Has the Biden Administration Issued a ‘Gag Order’ on Border Guards?
There is no official memo but NBC reports that border officials have said they have been restricted in their media interactions.
Viral Facebook posts claim that the Biden administration has issued a “gag order” to prevent the U.S. Customs and Border Protection from giving interviews unless they are arranged through the White House.
While what constitutes a “gag order” may be debated, the posts are based on real reporting: According to NBC, current and former Customs and Border Protection officials they’ve spken to have stated that the White House has cracked down on what information they’re allowed to share with the press. These restrictions include requiring all press inquiries to be approved by the Border Patrol press office in Washington, D.C., and forbidding any press requests for ride-alongs at the southern border. According to NBC, this gag order is not the result of an official memo, leaving no paper trail, with the restrictions being communicated verbally.
The press has been stonewalled by the Biden administration in other regards as well, with news organizations being denied access to border facilities where immigrants are housed and processed. Getty Images special correspondent John Moore reported that, breaking from the norm under previous presidents, the media received “zero access” to border operations.

On Monday, pictures of one makeshift border facility taken by Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat from Texas, were published by Axios, giving some insight into the overcrowded and quickly made temporary shelters. The press still has not been given access though both House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki indicated that the press would soon be granted access to the border facilities and information earlier this week.

Thank you. We need a press that scrutinizes the Biden Administration. Not being Trump is his one great accomplishment in my eyes. But I fear that it is getting him a free pass. His policies need to be scrutinized honestly. The honesty and open of the Administration needs to be scrutinized honestly.
Although Democrats have the slimmest of majorities (actually a 50/50 Senate) it appears they intend to pass some of the most sweeping legislation we have seen in a long time. It is the opposite how Biden campaigned, and the opposite of why I voted for him. It needs to be reported by a fair and skeptical press.
Alex, not sure if this is the correct way to pose this question. Did Dr. Rachel Levine pull her mother from a senior living facility prior to directing nursing homes to take Covid patients?
