A viral tweet claims to show French President Emmanuel Macron covered in floral garlands that he received upon his arrival in French Polynesia.

While Macron was greeted with ceremonial garlands, video of the French president’s arrival shows that they were far fewer in number than the viral tweet showed.

Based on video from the event, it’s clear that the image was doctored and further garlands were overlaid—or, ahem, over-lei-ed—on the picture of Macron.

I, too, was grumpy that an image of delightful whimsy was being Fact-Checked, but the use of "over-lei-ed" brought me back around. Well-played, sir.
