Did ‘Almost Nobody’ Show Up to a Kamala Harris Event in North Carolina?

The campaign stop was not open to the public.

An article from website Post Millennial claims that “almost nobody showed up” to Kamala Harris’ campaign stop in Asheville, North Carolina, on October 21.

The article includes a video that says “You Can Count the Number of Attendees at Kamala's Rally on Two Hands.”

In fact, the event in question was not open to the public. Local media reported the campaign allowed only about 25 people in, while many waited outside the perimeter hoping to get in. The Biden-Harris campaign has eschewed large rallies, instead hosting small, socially distanced events as a part of their efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus.

This is not the first time a false claim about attendance at Biden/Harris campaign events has gone viral. The Dispatch Fact Check addressed similar claims about an Arizona event featuring both candidates.
